FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp BDAA AMATEURS AWAIT LEAGUE OPENER Bingham's entry in the new Amateur baseball league, backed by local business men and the BDAA, are eagerly awaiting their initial game here Sunday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m. Managers F. Zaccaria and L. Sumnicht report i an excellent turnout of from 20 to 25 aspiring young athletes every ev-ery evening at Yankee staduim. The enthusiasm and support of all businesses and organizations has been of "the greatest, and a successful start in this enterprise is now assured. With plenty of young talent to pick from, 20 brand new uniforms to cavort in and capable hands at the helm of our BDAA baseball squad, a highly enjoyable and worthwhile season is expected. The new uniforms, obtained by the excellent cooperation of the following businesses and organizations, or-ganizations, shall make our local team's entry doubly auspicious. "BDAA", team sponsor, will be lettered across front of shirt and the individual uniform sponsors will be lettered on back of uniform uni-form shirt as follows: Gemmell club, Canyon Motor Co., Star Lite Gardens, Copper-ton Copper-ton Market, Bingham Mercantile Co., Big Four club, A & M club, Princess Theatre, Theatre Candy Dist. Co., Standard Garage, Kennecott Ken-necott Copper Corp., Utah Power & Light Co., Bingham Hospital, CIO Local 485, Bingham Club-Bar-Cafe, Bingham Drug and Evans Drugs, Lendaris Merc. Co., Copper Gate, U. S. Mines and Adderley & Nichols. The Bingham Nine will play 11 home games in league play, besides several tentative practice sessions, and anyone desiring to see these games should secure membership in the BDAA soon. Year round entertainment is the goal of the association and the more members we have the more entertainment we can obtain. (Join now. Just $6.00 for a whole year's- entertainment for the family. Either cash or pay roll deduction.) SLANTS ON SOFTBALL A meeting for all captains or managers of Softball teams in the BDAA Softball league, is on docket for the early part of next week. Team personnel, playing rules and schedule will be discussed dis-cussed and drawn up, and teams will be ready to launch another bang-up softball race. All entries will be notified of date of meeting meet-ing and schedule.
