Show Editorials by the People THE EVENING TELEGRAM I Invites Its readers to write letters about current current cur cur- rent events for tor publication In tale ula column There Is no better botter way ay for tor the the ex expression ex- ex pre ion of ot public opinion Write on ono one side elde of ot tho the paper and ami sign your yourn n name name me and give your Our address If It you ou do not wish your our name published It will not appear In print Letters criticising religious beliefs belles or airing personal grudges will be bo rejected If U you ou wish manuscript returned send self addressed stamped envelope Editor Tho The Tele Telegram ram Dear Sir Will Sir Will you rou allow w mo space in your jour valuable paper to call enl tho the attention of ot your readers to a negligence on the part of our city comm commissioners This negligence is little short of criminal an and is ia in part at least responsible for two accidents in which two human lives fives were lost within the tho past thirty days day One of the accidents happened I Ion on North Temple west of tho the river and I the other on Second South west of tho the river Both of these accidents hap hat happened paned at a a. point on the road where it was particularly particular dark and in the tho case of the tho one on Second South at a street intersection where there thero should have been a street light but where there was none It looks as though a special attempt has hns been made to place what few dew lights there are on that street west of the river where they thoy could do the least good One is placed down own in a hollow v near the tho San Pedro railroad whore where it is of f little use While a short block to the west of it is the intersection of tho the Redwood road a thoroughfare traveled tray trav b by all aU kinds of vehicles an and b by hundreds of pedestrians at all hours of the day and night Th This intersection is left loft in darkness Again one ono short block west of the tho Redwood road and a short block north of ot Second South is another street light Now with the exception of one house I this Ii light ht is of absolutely no use whatever whatever what what- I ever over as there is no traffic on that particular particular par part of the road whilo while roads which are aro constantly in use arc are left in darkness A little o over or r a a. year ago tho the city went to tho the expense of oi grading and graveling gravel ing lag North Temple from the fair grounds rounds to tho the city limits to accommodate the automobile traffic to and from tho the speedway But havin haying having done dono this and making making- this old established hi highway hway a dangerous road for all horse vehicles and pedestrians to travel on under the most favorable fa circumstances they were then seized with a spirit of economy economy my for with tho the exception of the intersection intersection in in- of the Redwood road there have ha been no rio lights placed on North Temple from the tho fair grounds west est estIn In both bothof of these accidents which I Ilave have lave mentioned m the likelihood of their happening happening- would have hayo been les lessened ened to toa toa toa a very ery great extent if the streets street were properly properly- lighted as the they should be We wethe the residents resident living liing west of the tho river have havo petitioned d the cit city commissioners commissioners commis commis- in this regard but no attention has lias been paid to us Yours Yours' for fair treatment A.
