It was transformed into a theater hy the Army, during the eaiiv part of World War II, w hen the government had taken over most "I the fair grounds for its use. 'I lie large stage which was erect-- ' ed at that time, has been reniov-jed- , and the entire building will now be d into booths lor all 20 counties of Utah. Each of the counties are being invited to make an eativ sele-ction of the space they will use. Assurance is being given to these counties, that this space will be reserved for them during future lairs, and that improvements they make for this 'year will be preserved for each succeeding year. Efforts aie also being made to have the counties take advan-tage of neon lighting, especially with the name designating the county in front of each booth These will be selected so that many colors will appear, and it is hoped that more extensive neon lighting will al.so be used in decorating and constructing the booth for displays. All these booths will remain intact throughout the vear, and the building will be used between lairs for other attractions relafnn', to the rural. life of the state. The lighting will be tinned on dur-ing such occasions, so that not only the county names, but the space occupied will become a fa-miliar sight to patrons of such events. All other exhibit rs at the fair, jare also being extended an inv-itation to plan fur yearly .space. These are being encouraged to arrange more permanent display areas, with the assurance that such space w ill remain iiUact, anil will be their first refusal each yar as fair time approach-e.s- . The entertainment program is still in the process of being ar-ranged, and assurance is had that it will be up to the standard that will lit into the pictuie of th" 40er" fair. The usual carnival with its rides and many other attractions will be set up a.s usual and some new and cxtraordin- - aiy events are being planned for' the grandstand show each alter- - noon. There will be plenty of: music and other entertainment throughout the fair grounds. Everyone is being encouraged to plan a full day and evening at the fair this year. The grounds are beautiful and fair guests are urged to make their visit an oc-casion for a grand picnic, and tables will be provided, as well as all other necessities to make j .'uch a day one to be remember-ed. . mi v ' , Fci- - v ;"Sik rf , ' . The opening eveni will be "Governor's Night", anc the first performance of the quar-ter of million dollar spectacle "1950 Version Holiday on Ive" , This show has attracted the great - est attention of all centennial jvar events, and the 11)50 version t 'has been entirely rearranged, with new scenic effects, new cast and an entirely new music score. . The fair will formally open on Saturday, September 17. Owing !to the conflict with the closing date of the Southeastern Idaho Fair at Blackfoot, cattle and live 'stock entries will be accepted on Sunday, and judging will start on Monday. Plans for the fair, which is be-ing staged under the theme of a "49er" event, will be back to the days of the old time fair. It will make the farmer, cattle man, and poultry producer the honor guest of the show, and the products they produce will hold forth the best display place possible. In line with this idea, the counties are going to take over the thea-tre building at the fair grounds for the horticultural section.
