Show CITY COUNCIL APPROVES NEW WATER LINE "At the regular city council meeting held Thursday evening, April 15, the city council approved approv-ed a contract with Kennecott Copper Corporation which provides pro-vides for a new pipe line in Dry Fork canyon. After Kennecott Copper Corp. revised one section, Mayor Ralph A. Murano was authorized to sign the contract. In substance the new contract provides: 1. The Kennecott Copper Corp. at its own expense and cost will construct a new pipe line and necessary pumping facilities from the portal of the tunnel to a new water tank to be determined. 2. The Kennecott Copper Corp. at its own expense will construct a new weir at the point of delivery. de-livery. 3. The Kennecott Copper Corp. will construct a new pipe line at its own expense from the weir to the city's pipe line. 4. The Kennecott Copper Corp. will maintain at its own expense in good condition the new pipe line and pumping facilities from x the portal of the tunnel to the point of delivery and will defray all costs of operation. 5. The Kennecott Copper Corp. agrees to construct a 60,000 gallon gal-lon tank at the point of delivery and in case of emergency by reason of fire they will make available without cost to the city such water as may be needed for the emergency. 6. During the period of construction con-struction Kennecott Copper Corp. agrees that the use by the city of its portion of water shall not be interupted, or if it should be, such interuption shall not exceed 72 hours duration at any time, and that during such interruption the company will provide water of equal quantity and quality from other sources. 7. The company will construct and maintain a road from the Bingham highway to the portal of the tunnel, and the city's rep- rescntatives shall have access to the tunnel and dividing weir for purpose of inspection. |
