Show s I Well Done Salt Lake l' l WELL VELL ELL DONE SALT LAKE Well done army Well Weli done Utah State Symphony and y your ur guest artists Braggiotti and Shaw Well done everybody who cooperated in staging staging staging stag- stag ing the second summer concert for service men menat at the University of Utah stadium As in the first concert the turn-out turn was s excellent for both service men and the civilian residents residents' of the city whose attendance fi finan financed financed fi- fi nan cd the show and made it possible to inI invite invite in- in I vite the 2500 soldiers as guests of the city at atthe r the performance It was again inspiring to watch these men I 1 from army posts in this vicinity and the reception reception reception recep recep- tion center march in and out of the stadium I 1 and this time it was thrilling to have the army air base band play martial airs for the marching marching marching march march- ing men and the Star-Spangled Star Banner forthe for forthe forthe the impressive ceremonies of raising and lowering the huge flag which flew over the stadium during the performance One of the most interesting things about the whole concert to many was the opportunity opportunity opportunity of watching three different classes of army men as they marched to and from their seats There were the hour 24 rookies from the reception center the men undergoing their i basic training at Kear Kearns s and lastly the full- full fledged soldiers from the Salt Lake air base Frankly with all due respect to the latter group it was impossible for the the- casual onlooker on- on l looker oker r to tell much difference in the discipline and soldierly behavior of the three groups It was a fine show from all standpoints I which we are sure everyone w who o attended i enjoyed The many organizations and individuals indi indi- t who helped to make it such a s success f are are to be c congratulated ted Especially we would like to mention Hans Heniot conductor for whom it was the last concert as he is going into the army Fred E. E Cowles and the board of regents of the University of Utah for their cooperation cooperation cooperation co co- co- co operation in making the stadium available for forthe forthe forthe the concert It is to be hoped that tha the tle end of summer will not see a termination of such joint civil civil- soldier ian-soldier entertainment attractions in Salt Lake City It is isone one excellent way for all ofus of ofus ofus us to help provide needed wholesome recreation recreation recreation tion for forthe the service men in our midst midst and and the people of Salt Lake have now proved that they welcome such opportunities to make possible possible possible pos pos- sible with their support in paid attendance such soldier entertainment |
