P J. J Moran company placed l a street toilet within a short distance of our front door It was yaS an 0 open receptacle without cover and the tho odor was so bad at times tunes that we were compelled to t close our and windows in warm weather too I called twice on the health department depart ment merit and made complaint aint without r e lief I wrote to P. P J. J Moran company about conditions without relief and then one evening I rt read ad In THE TIlE TELEGRAM TELEGRAM TELE GRAM an article about th the efficiency of ot Dr Paul I told my wife that Pr Dr Paul must bo he the man for tor us t to see and I telephoned hUn him II He lIe said aid that h ha he would Investigate it It I waited for tor sev several ral days and nd then wrote him a letter but hut got ot no answer so 80 I called at his hie office In person But But being an ordinary citizen and not not be be ing lug familiar with the time and place in which to interview hl high h officials ls I found that in my ignorance I had blundered as the doctor coldly r. L MORRIS MOru FILTHY COWS Editor Telegram Telegram We We are being told to swat the winter fly I am wondering wonder ing Ipg pg wh why It would not be a pod g-pod thing as long as we are re after atter the tha fly to swat th the breeding beeg Places of ot t the e p pest st namely namey the cow cows and cow yards that are allowed in inthis this beautiful city I suppose there i is no animal as filthy as the cow and certainly no one as unnecessary unnecessary un un- Unnecessary necessary in a city The great majority ma mil of people get along buying their milk of the dairies and the few who cannot should live in the outer edge of town where the HIe population is not so dense Where I live hive there are arc eleven families rami am- lies feet of a filthy cow v yard ard and part of or them less than twenty ty feet from it And An this is one of the best parts of ot the city and les less than seven blocks from the center of the business district In the summer and fall tall the flies ulie are Jre so thick that life al almOt almost almost al- al most mOt becomes a burden and we dont don't keep all those flies at home either Doubtless they scatter over the greater part of the east side It would be just justas as reasonable for some one to be al allowed al- al lowed to go to the source of our water supply and infect ct the water with ty typhoid typhoid ty- ty germs and then the city hire doctors to try to stamp out an epidemIc ic of typhoid old by visiting the tile sick and quarantining the homes where the disease is found Br Breeding places of the fl fly are allowed and then our good goodmoney money is spent to kilt kill th the files flies th that t have been protected while getting their start Why not follow the example of ot other cities clUe and have an ordinance forbidding forbid forbid- ding dim such a n. nuisance and menace to the health Of If f helpless people nI READER ADER |
