Show American Fork's Projjreas. Editor Citizen, ! , I have been delighted of Into to sec the many improvements thnt have taken tak-en placo in this bcautlfiul little city of ours. It would almost seem as if our enterprising wlde-mvako citizens were trying to outvie each other In the matter mat-ter of improving their sidewalks and fences in planting and in fixing up there property in general. 1 also notice, while strolling nround, many preparations which arc being made to commence elaborate new buildings build-ings this season, in different parts of the city. All this speaks louder than words for the pluck and enterprise of the people of American Fork, and proves that we are a progressive people and fully abreast of the times. With our new City water works installed, in-stalled, and our new boulevard under way, together with the steady cxten-tion cxten-tion of cement sido walks we are Bure to attract the attention and favorable comment of strangers, and people will naturally feel as though they would like to make their future homes with us. I had a chat with a traveling agent some time ago who had travelled through the whole state of Utah, and was agreeably agree-ably surprized to hear him soy that, American Fork was the nicest, tidiest and most progressive city for its hjzc, that he had seen in the whole state, and the very place where he should like to make his future homo. Every thinking person knows that money is well spent in beautifying and building up his home, h.s homo town and his home nuwspaper, i nd for this reason wo ought 10 leave no sumo unturned, un-turned, that can be turned, to plnse ourselves, our-selves, as a city, in the most favorable light possible, consistent with truth. And there is a moral side to this question. The more orderly, law-abiding, obliging and courteous wo ore, the more good people will desire to make their homes among us. Then thcro are valuable mining properties pro-perties in American For'' canyon which are being gradually developed, and which continue'to ship ore of paying quantities and qualities, which in time -v... cannot help but bo a great sourco of . V wealth to American Fork, and which f$'Atrttf'UWlU knhtl"" be a great incentive for j. - Our wtUquipfedpoworTliant;' too, - soon to be much increased in volume, is another very attractive feature of our growing importance. And the beautiful beauti-ful Utuh"Lake so near to our flourishing flourish-ing city is a charm to us, and will be a charm and delight to thousands who will yet gladly and thankfully join our ranks and share our blessings. We gratefully and thankfully confess a great deal of go-at-it-iveness and prosperity pros-perity manifested at present in our snug salubrious town is due to the in telligence, vigilance and tact of our Commercial club, and to tho prizes they recently ollered for the tidiest, cleanest and best kept places. Our enterprising en-terprising ciiy Mayor, and City Conu-cllmen, Conu-cllmen, bo it said to their credit, arc acting in unibon with the club, mi i h these two potent factors woiking har- I moniously together, and the people of American Fork 10 back them, how can we full to become a binning ught in sisterhood of Utah s fair cities'? . . Ono more word which 1 think is due: -I have also noticed that Tin: CmzKN has always been to the front in doing its share to help us along. Ever since the paper started its motto has been "Boost for American Fork, Utah County Coun-ty and the State of Utah." AN OBSERVER. |
