Show DOGS DOG'S FINE INTUITION MAKES PlAY PAY POSSIBlE The Wonderful Adventure which begins at the Rex theatre this afternoon afternoon after after- afternoon noon and ad continues through Wednesday features William Farnum in a a. role which is in reality two parts as it deals with a a. dual personality The drama which is from the pen of the noted author Capt Wilbur Lawton is mainly based upon the tho Jekyll and Hyde characters characters characters char char- of John Stanley the young en engineer engineer en- en and Demarest the drug fiend who resembles him BO so closely that it is next to Impossible to tell them apart The action of the play requires that John Stanley be possessed ofa faithful collie do dog his companion and only friend When Stanley meets Demarest the dog with canine intuition becomes aware of the subtle taint of evil that hangs about the the theman man Several dogs were tried by the producers in endeavoring endea endea- voting to get the much desired effect but the animals were equally friendly to Farnum both in the parts of Stanley Stanley Stan Stan- ley Icy and Demarest At last Rover was given a trial The dog showed marvelo s intelligence intelli intelli- gence When Farnum as Stanley was In the scene Rover could not be demonstrative demonstrative demonstrative dem dem- enough in his affection When however the actor passed to the role of Demerest the dogs dog's disposition changed completely He seemed to sense what was required of ot him He lIe snarled and the hair on his neck rose ominously It was dangerous dangerous' for Farnum to approach ap approach approach ap- ap him bun and yet when the scene was over and Farnum became in reality Mr Ir Farnum or perchance changed back to the role of Stanley the four- four footed actor was as friendly as ever |
