Show FOURTH OF JULY PROGRAM WELLATTENDED Miniature Parade A colorful miniature parade carrying out the Independence day theme, featured the annual Fourth of July celebration here Monday sponsored by the Bingham Bing-ham Volunteer Fire Department. Twenty-two floats including the Bingham summer band and some one hundred children participated participat-ed in the procession which was one of the largest miniature parades par-ades in the town's history. Preceding the floats, entered by Bingham district religious, business and civic groups, was a Boy Scout color detachment. Grand sweepstakes winner in the parade was a floral float sponsored by the Elva Ruth Shoppe. Riding on the float were Ruth Claire Kidd and Suzanne Gretne. Placing second in the organization organi-zation division was the No. 2 Firemen's auxiliary entry which was composed of a group of small children dressed in auxiliary auxil-iary colors, marching and carrying carry-ing a bell. An all pink float, ridden rid-den by little Shirley Ann Booth and sponsored by the Utah Power Pow-er & Light Co. followed. It was followed by the Women's Civic Club entry judged third in the organization division. A float decorated de-corated in blue, trimmed with red and white streamers was entered by Canyon Motor Co. and was followed by an entry sponsored spon-sored by Lendaris Merc; Patriotic colors red, white, and blue were used in the Bingham Meat Co. float which was followed by the Millers Groceteria Gro-ceteria entry featuring a colorful horn of plenty theme. Riding on the beautifully designed No. 1 Firemen's auxiliary float was little lit-tle Michael Ann Creedon. Next came the Bingham summer band followed by the Holy Rosary church entry; The float sponsored by Union Drug Co., featured an American flag and was followed by the Bingham Lions club entry, in yellow, depicting a lion, the club's insignia. Barrell of fun was the theme of the Bingham Mortuary and Floral float. Judged Judg-ed third in the commercial division di-vision was the cleverly arranged float featuring costumed dolls sponsored by Bingham and Evans Ev-ans Drugs. Inscribed "Ship of State" was the all-white trimmed trim-med in red float designed as a ship entered by Bingham Merc. v Co. which was second in the commercial division. First in the organization division di-vision was the Bingham Central summer playground colorful float featuring Huck Finn. Children representing various sports were used in the Lark recreation entry en-try which was followed by an entry sponsored by the Highland Boy Community House, House of Joy. "Goddess of Liberty" was the theme of the entry sponsored sponsor-ed by Ott's Cafe which was first in the commercial division. A covered wagon, was entered by Eingham LDS Primary and was followed by a banner representing represent-ing Princess theatre. Winners in the costume division divis-ion were Nadia Nelson, Ronnie Boren, Nikki Mary Jones and Nikkie Florence Jimas. Other Activities After the parade, children were guests at a free show at Princess theatre followed by childrens' races at Bingham Central school playground and a childrens' dance at B.C.O. hall. Also on the d;.y's agenda was a ball game scheduled between Bingham American Am-erican Legion and Tooele American Amer-ican Legion which was postponed postpon-ed because of rain. Climaxing the days' activities was a dance that evening at B.C.O. hall. Chairman of the celebration was Earl T. James, assisted by Bob Jimas, Raiford G. Benson, Joseph P. Scussel, Eugene Jenkins Jen-kins Jr. and Hugo Bianchi. |
