To greet the attraction thousands of visitors from ritie and near-cities and hamlets and villages throughout the tale, as well as additional thousands of "natives" lined the principal streets of rJalt I,ake this morning and "took in" the parade. The sidewalks for block and blocks along the line of march were almost impassable. The street ear tracks were lined bv the more venturesome, deair-. ous of "getting as close a posaible to the strange smelling beasts whose habi-tata habi-tata are far from the sun struck asphalt, as-phalt, and the windows and roofs of office buildings along the line of march served as Impromptu grand stands ftrr a multitude of children and young and grav haired people. The parade was fifteen minutes in passing a given point. A splendid array ar-ray of horses was probably the most noticeable feature of th procession, though aa a whole, as circus things go, the lineup was slick and new and clean looking. Elephants large and small, and a big collection of camels and thing from tho jungle and plains of faraway countries was also interesting. An especially fine tiger, sleek and with latent ferocity and cunning, showing in the sinewy and powerful muscles, attracted more than passing attention. By no means the least interesting . and entertaining feature of the visit of a big circus in any city does not take niece under the "biff top.' It is the unloading of the circus train.' the feeding of the animals, and too, of the men and women who form the rir-' cus army. Before daybreak this morn ing youngster were waiting around for the arrival of the flrst section of til eircui train, that they might b on hand to are for themselves the things which are alway interesting to the average American boy and at tha same time to offer their aervice as water carriers to the elephants or to do anv little odd work that usually must be done when there's a eircus around. , . N, As oon as th trains arrived and started to unload a crowd gathered at the old Walker field eireu ground, and with undisguised interest watched the life and bnatle of the eanaaa city. The tents went vp aa though some fairv maid had waved her magie wand and wished them there. Th "big top" waa ent up aooaXgfter the smaller tenta, including the dining room, kitchens, kitch-ens, etc.. had been hoisted, and in not much more than the time it take to tell about it all was in readipe for the first show, scheduled for 2 bveJoek. System is the keystone of the cieeu structure. It is an elaboration of '"a place for everything and everything ioV it plaee." Something for everyone . to do and everyone to do just what is mapped out for him. from the driving of the king stake to the floating of the pennant on the main meet halvard. The tent city i scheduled to disappear disap-pear again after the final performance tonight, just a quickly a it grew up this morning. J. B. Whalen la boss eanvasman for tho Ringling boys thia season, and under hi direction there are some stunts pulled off, which, though not on the program, are never-, theleas as interesting and thrilling a any of the acta within the sawdust eir-1 cle Stake drivers, canrasmen, animal feeders, cooks and all are artists in their particular line of work and must be topnotcher to make good with the Binglings.
