Show NEW EXAMINATION FOR PRIVATE BLOOM WASHINGTON. Sept. 2. Private Frank Bloom, on whose account President Presi-dent Taft reprimanded Col. Joseph Garrard, commanding the military post at Kort Myer. Va., because that officer disapproved the promotion of the private pri-vate on the irround that he was a Jew. was examined under the president's orders or-ders at Kort Leavenworth, Kan., today to-day for a second lieutenancy in the army. Bloom failed in the preliminary examination and it was then that Colo-net Colo-net Garrard Indorsed his papers, catling catl-ing attention to the fact that he was the son of the post tailor, at Port Myer, who is a Jew. and stating that he would not deaire him in his command as ao officer and a aorial and personal asao date. In admonishing Colonel Garrard the president waived the examination which Bloom failed to pass and authorised author-ised him to take the final test today. This will determine bis fitness for promotion. |
