Show MAYES HELD UNDER BAIL PENDING PLEA Without coat, vest or outer shirt, James Mayes, ebarged with having held op and robbed a number of passengers passen-gers oa a Baltair train last Saturday eight, appeared in the police court thia afternoon and listened to the reading of a complaint charging him with robbery. rob-bery. It is ebarged ia the complaint that Hayes robbed L. E. Darling of one billiken coin aad $3 in silver. . The right arm of the prisoner was bandaged to hie aide aa tho result of injuries which he claims to have received re-ceived by being pushed from the train by the robber. Hayes listened closely to the reading read-ing of the complaint and in answer to a question from Judge Bowman stated that he had no attoraev nnd didnt know how to get one. He said that it was his first time ia any court aad that he waa not familiar with court proceedings. He waa givea until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning to enter bia plea. Some time this afternoon he will hare a talk with a member of the county attornev'a office, and will likely waive his preliminary examination. In default of (2000 bail, be was remanded to the custody of the sheriff. |
