This Is the decision of Mrs. Ella Wilson, Wil-son, mayor or this town, who since her Inauguration has had a continuous fight with the male city council. They have not confirmed her appointees for city marshal or city clerk, and she has not signed any ordinance. This has been the status of matters sine her election last April. Mrs. Wilson last night for the first time admitted she would quit If she could, saying politics Is not the place for a womsn, but, at the same time, she turned on (he members of the council and forced them to listen to her. During the Isst week Mrs. Wilson conferred con-ferred wit h Governor Stubbs. and he told her. she says, that If last night s meeting of the city council were not satisfactory sat-isfactory he would aid her In having the members of the council ousted. Mrs. Wilson told the council men last night when the meeting meet-ing opened. The meeting last night accomplished nothing except to pay for the repairs on the town pump, as the mayor would sign no ordinances passed by the council and the council would do nothing the mayor wished. Just what action Mrs. Wilson will take against the council men is not known, for she wilt not say positively that she would bring ouster proceedings against the oouncllmen. In sneaking of her own position and her wtltngnens to quit the mayoralty under different conditions, Mrs. Wilson said: "I would be satisfied If ousted from office, but I can t quit the battle under the present conditions. I am tired of the fighting politics; It Is not a woman's place, but "Mrs. Wilson choked as she ended "the men will find that a woman will fight aa long as anybody when she once gets Into politics."
