Sheriff Harrison and a force of deputies have made a thorough Investigation of tha statements made by Watsdn In his "con feslon." and have come to the eonrlu Ion that though Wat eon was probably In Ok den or Salt Leake City at the time of the murderous holdup, and read the account of the crime In the dally papers, he had nothing to do with the actual crime. The Sprague house described by Watson Wat-son as the one ln which the plunder waa divided, can not be located, and the officers offi-cers are satisfied that no, auch place as that defcrlbed by Watson exists within a radius of at least fifteen miles of Ogden. The room at tha Healy hotel, which Watson Wat-son says he occupied on the night of the holdup, waa occupied on that night by an eastern woman, as shown by the register, regis-ter, and though Watson's story aa a whole seems probab! enough, tha officers find that the details of hig story rind lea te that he is not telling the truth. Sheriff Harrison believes that Watson Is "stalling" lo escape being taken back to Nebraska, where he Is wanted for a post of floe robbery. |
