Show HARRIMAN ; SPECIAL IN SALT LAKE Widow of Railroad Wizard Going to Rest in Idaho. Mrs. Mary E. Harriman. widow of tha late Edward H. Harriman, and reputed re-puted to be the richest woman in tbe world, arrived in Salt Lake City - at 12:50 o'clock this afternoon in a special spe-cial train from San Francisco. Mrs. Harriman was met at the local station by William H. Bancroft, vice president snd general manager of the Oregon Short Line, and D. E. Burley, general passenger agent for that company. After a few minutes' chat in ber private pri-vate car, Mrs. Harriman entered an eV- automobile with Mr. Bancroft and went at once to the Hotel .Utah, where a suite of rooms had been engaged. The other members of the party went to the hotel in Mr. Burley 'a automobile. She will be accompanied north by Mr. Bancroft and K- C. Man-ion, Man-ion, general superintendent of the Oregon Ore-gon Short Line. In speaking of the visit of Mrs. Harriman Har-riman to Salt Lake City, Mr. Bancroft said: "It is aimply a little visit to one of the cities in which her husband was much interested. It hai no special significance." - The special train in which Mrs. Harriman Har-riman reached Aalt Lake City waa made' up of engine 807 of the Oregon Short Line, Union" Pacific combination car 704, Union Pacifie private. car 014 and the private car Arden. The latter was the car nsed by the late E. H. Harriman for a number of years, and in the settlement of his estate es-tate Mrs. Harriman asked for and waa given the ear which ia now her private property. The special was accompanied from Ogden to this city Tiy A. F. Brewer, uperintendent of the Utah diviaion of tha Oregon Short Line. |
