Show TINE MINES ARE STMTEDTOBIG LEAD PRODUCTION - The growing demand for lead ores is timalating the extraction of the lower grade products of the Tintie mines and is sot only making prospecting through the second class bodies more remunerative, remunera-tive, but making it possible for many of the mines to commercialize some of their milling and second class dumps. The May Day ia treating with the smelters for an ore eontrart whereby it will be able to ship regularly from the big body of milling ore which is exposed ex-posed on the 800-foot level, and if the company succeeds in closing the contract con-tract it will mean considerable to the property, for there is a big tonnage in sight as well as a few thousand tons on tha damn. Ia addition to this, earn- pie are being taken of the slimes ia the mill pond which hare been collect-1 collect-1 ed for some months during th operation opera-tion of th mill at different periods. These slime are said to carry from 6 to 10 per cent lead and some silver val-'.. val-'.. and if a contract can be secured : wbteh will permit th akippiag Jtt -this product, th returns will be nearly all profit, for there will be ao mining ex-pens ex-pens a tb or is on tbe surface ready to be marketed. With th growing demand de-mand for lead ores, it Is conceded that some kind of an arrangement will, be made whereby the lower grade lead ores can b marketed. 0 Not only tbe May Day, but the other East Tintie properties will be benefited by new contracts as well. Th Yankee recently shipped a few ears from its mill dump and th management is awaiting the returns, for there Is a higher premium on th lead ores than there has been for some time, do to tbe fact that lead must be procured in the smelting of th gold and silver ores which com upon th market. The Yankee Yan-kee has about 25,000 tons on its mill dump, and it this can be shipped at a profit tbe eompanv would be in a position po-sition to add considerably to its earning capacity. At tbe Berk Tunnel samples are being taken of the second clans produet which was sent over tbe dump when the high grade or waa being mined. Thia eom- Kny also has a big tonnage which could marketed under favorable conditions, condi-tions, and it la said that it ia not at all unlikely that all of these ares will be sent direct to the smelters. At the Colorado Col-orado and Iron Bloaaom, ore that carries car-ries lead ia aeparated from the siliceous ores shipped oa aa entirely different baaia than that which carries silver and gold, but with ' nn appreciable lead value. With the growing demand for lead and with tha competition between the local ameltera for lead ores, it is not improbable that the next few montha will witness regular shipments of the lower srade Tintie ores, and aa result the different producers will derive de-rive considerable re venae with practically practi-cally no expense to tha companies, rvuch a condition would furnish considerable revenue to the companies and would permit of. extensive prospecting for I higher yrsde bodies |
