Wil- li.m Alexander Smith, the old- eet member of the New York .took exchange and preaident of that organization during the troublous times of the civil war, is dead at his home here. Ha was bora at Pottstown, Pa., is 120 and came to New York in 1844. . Mr. Smith was treasurer of 4 the American Bible society from 1848 to 1BS1. In Decern- bar, 1904, he celebrated his six-' 4 ticth anniversary as a member of the stock exchange.
