Show NEW LAWS FOR FOOD INSPECTOR The authority of the provision inspector in-spector to seize and confiscate food stuffs which is believed to be unfit for consumption was pnt to a test when W. J. Frazier, inspector of provisions, was requested not to take samples of food from the cold storage room of a local restaurant to investigate their fitness for food. He succeeded in taking a loin of beef, which was found to be in a decaying condition. The "meat was taken before the Board of Health, and the board instructed in-structed the inspector to confiscate tl.i stock of meat in the storage roon. whence the sample was taken. It wa these foods that Inspector Frazier was requested not to molest when he attempted at-tempted to take them for samples Friday. Fri-day. As it is almost impossible to secure convictions for selling tainted food under un-der the present laws, the board decided, de-cided, if possible, to secure amendments amend-ments to the statutes, so that there will be no question of the duties or au thority of the food inspector. The City Attorney will be asked to prepare pre-pare an amendment to be submitted to the Legislature for its consideration. |
