Show BUTTE'S STRIKE IS OVER; DAILY PAPERS OUT THIS AFTERNOON BUTTE, Mont., March 28. Having adjusted all differences with the labor unions, the newspapers of Butte and Anaconda will resume publication at once. The Inter-Mountain and the Evening Even-ing News appeared this afternoon and the Butte Miner and Anaconda Standard Stand-ard Friday morning. Three-year contracts con-tracts have been signed by the committees commit-tees from the Typographical union, the Pressmen 's, Stereotypers and Mailers ' anions. The suspension, which lasted six weeks, was precipitated by the Pressmen's Press-men's union demanding an increased scale of wages for its -members. The demand was "refused by the publishers, publish-ers, and suspension followed. The printers refused to go to work after having been advised that they would return to work at the old scale, $5 a day for day work and $5.50 for night work, or not at all. The printers refused to recede from the prevailing scale of $5.50 for day work and $6 for night work, and the lockout resulted. The printers then made a determined fight but lost, being commanded to return to work by the International Typographical union. |
