Show "BILL" HIG'tflAN'S BROTHER INSANE Warren Hicltrnan Committed Commit-ted to Provo Asylum; His Hallucination That He Is Immensely Wealthy. Judge Armstrong: committed Warren D. Hickman, brother of the famous "Bill" Hickman of Danite fame, to the State Mental hospital at Provo this morning. Warren Hickman's experience has been nearly as romantic as that of his brother, and their lives have been closely linked with that of the history of Utah. The stories told of "Bill" Hickman and his supposed band of Danites are known throughout the world. One book In particular par-ticular has made them memorable. That is "A Study in Scarlet." Warren has been confined at the St. Mark's hospital for four weeks, but his mental condition has been such that it has been necessary to remove him and have him placed under the care of the State. The complaint was made by Mrs. P. C. Beebee and evidence was given by Dr. J. F. Crttchlow, who has been Hickman's Hick-man's physician. According to the evidence evi-dence Hickman Is 66 years old and was born in Missouri. By occupation he is a farmer and a miner. He lias never been married. Hickman came to Ctah in 1S63, and has been here ever since. While at the hospital Hickman disturbed dis-turbed the house by his curses and attempted at-tempted to build a bonfire in his rooms. His hallucination consists in a belief that he Is immensely wealthy and he declares he contributes $150,000 a month to the hospital. Hickman has been a moderate drinker all his life. He is 'troubled with a growth on the Up. According to County Physician Physi-cian W. R. CaJderwood and his assistant, F. H. Raley, the'' man Is suffering from senile dementia. Hickman's father was Edwin D. Hickman Hick-man of South Carolina, and his mother was Elizabeth Adams of Virginia. |
