Show B.DAA FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp BDAA TROUNCES FORKERS1 The BDAA baseball nine threw the Utah Industrial loop into a turmoil last Tuesday night as they trounced the first-half champs from American Fork 10 to 4. George Trejo, new addition to the local mound staff, held the Forkers well in hand and showed promise of becoming a fine chucker. The Bingham nine blasted the offerings of Al (Nig) Tate for 11 safeties, with Don Crump and brother Cal collecting doubles. Dick Powers, Jimmy Brown and Bob Jenkins also found Tate's slants to their liking, as nearly every player contributed a hit or two. Trejo went the route for the locals, scattering the Forkers hits, and allowed but two solid blows, one a home run by Owens. Tate held the locals scoreless for five innings but Bingham exploded for four runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and four more in the top of the ninth. PLAY "PEACHES" HERE TONIGHT Bingham playt host to the Brigham City Peaches at the Copperton stadium tonight, Friday, at 8:15 p.m. Brigham City defeated the locals lo-cals a week ago to open second half play, and the Peaches at present are on top of the league, with a win over Helper and no losses. Bingham will play the Magna Millmen at Copperton Tuesday, July 18, in another night game, and travel to Provo next Friday. Julv 21st. SOFTBALL SLANTS Due to holidays and inclement weather, play in the BDAA softball loop has been held up for several days. Regular scheduled sched-uled games were played last night, and a tentative game between be-tween Huntsman's Chevrolet and league-leading Princess theatre, is being arranged for tomorrow night, Saturday. Confusion In Semi-Pro's Some confusion and doubt has arisen lately about the BDAA's use of several new players on their baseball squad. Certain players have been added to the local's roster in an effort to meet the competition that has become greater in the other teams In the Industrial league. These players have been signed, sign-ed, not only to bolster the strength of our local squad, but to improve and steady the play of our own local young ball players. The manager and representative representa-tive of the BDAA 'baseball team signed these said players with the honest ibelief that they were conforming to all rules and bylaws by-laws of the league, and have asked the league president to call a special meeting of the directors, di-rectors, to clarify the doubt that may be in some minds, as to all Bingham players' eligibility. 1 There has been no intention on the part of anyone connected with our ball team to acquire or use a player that may be declar- 1 ed ineligible. Our boys, and our 1 good fans here, want to win cleanly if we can, and we do not intend to use men that are not eligible. . i |
