Hurt on His Birthday Amii Gookint wat 85 years old last Tuesdsv, and hit wife planned a little turprite party for him by inviting in a few friendt unbeknowntt to Amzi. Mrs. Gookins sent her hutband down town on some errand after tupper and while he was gone the invited guests arrived ar-rived and when Amzi come back he found a room full of hit friends to greet him and congratulate him upon arriving at tich a hale and hearty old age. Amzi thuk hands all round and then went down cellar and drawed a pitcher of hard cider and pasted it around, and after that the mirth and revelry and joy was inconfined. After Amzi had tuk a couple of tin dippert full of cider he said he felt jest as spr as he ever did and calkirited he could rassel and throw any perton in the Lrowd. Jett to show how toople he was Amzi got up in the middle of the room and tried to dance a jig. but his foot tltpped and he fell and tpratnea hit ankle and ttruck hit head a awful crack against the corner of a chair, almost al-most breaking the chair. The party then broke up and the invited in-vited guestt departed for their variout homes, glad they had came and con-tcious con-tcious of a evening enjoyable spent. As for Amri. he is now limping around on crutches and says he ralkilates he ain't so spry as he was in his youth, but he felt like it that ev'g. whitch was probably prob-ably due to the effeckt of the hard cider.
