Show VICTORIA MINE IN BETTER SHAPE FOR PRODUCING HEAVILY Within the next tan days the Victoria's Victo-ria's new ore ho use win be ready for use, greatly facilitating tha handling of the mine's tonnage of ore, according to the Eureka Reporter. At present tha Victoria oars are loaded on tha Eagle and Blue Ball switch, and naturally the business of tha latter company com-pany Is given first consld a ration. Under the new arrangement the Victoria people peo-ple can have their railroad oars "apottsd" as they are needed and this will undoubtedly mean a larger tonnage, as the ore - an then he handled to much better advantage. Tha ore will, however, how-ever, be hauled to the railroad as usual, the statement In the market letter of one of the brokerage houses to tha affect af-fect that a tunnel would connect tha Victoria shaft wl th the railroad track being erroneous. Superintendent John Shea states that the Vlctorta'a 1200 level Is now producing produc-ing an exceptionally good grade of ore, tha value of which Is materially sweetened sweet-ened by the addition of soma copper, which la something new In that part of the mine. Mine assays show this ore to carry poo 2 U par oet la tlte se4 T metal, and while this wouldn't amount to much If It did not come slong with the other metala the total value of tha gold, sliver and copper which this ore contains amounta to almost $30 per ton. A new piece of development work was recently started on the 1000 level of the Victoria, a drift being sent out toward the south with a view to getting beneath a body of ore which waa encountered en-countered at the time the Victoria was operating through the Grand Central shaft. The 1000 drift Is thought to be quite near the point where this ore will ue round. IeatU-TlnUc. Manager tieorge Nichols of the Lhl-Tlntlc Lhl-Tlntlc property of North Tlnttc was In Fhireka a few days ago and. according to hie statements, this mine Is fast being placed In condition for the production of a good tonnage of high grade lead-silver ore. rarly In the week the teams commenced com-menced hauling the first consignment of ore to the railroad, this ore to be loaded on the cars at Topliff. Mr. Nichols said that at the time he left the mine over 90 sacks of this ore. worth In the neighborhood neigh-borhood of tit per ton. were piled up on the dump, and that the ore deposit which has been opened from the main tunnel level was of such slae that he felt safe In predicting regular shipments from the property. Considerable money has been spent In Improving the wagon road which connects con-nects the Ihl-Tlntic with the railroad at Topliff and, as the grade la favorable for the entire distance, about six miles, the coat of putting the ore on the market Is not going to be excessive. The ore body, where It has been cut from the main tunnel level, la not leaa than twenty feet wide, and appeara to extend both above and below the tunnel. The management Intends to Increaae the force and thla will make la posslbls to keep a larger number of men at work on the ore body. Tlntic Central. Super. rtted em Thomas lloldaway states that at the Tlnttc Central property he U now drlvmic a drift out toward the west on the low) level, ravine: discontinued the work which for some time wss under way In a raise from the 1000. The raise was driven throuch almost to the level above, being in a splendid body of quarts for almost the entire distance, but the values were Iscklnsj- Mr. lloldaway saya that the drlrt which he la now driving Is In a promlslna: looking It me formation. forma-tion. Its face being about 17ft feet from the mam ehaft. and that the rock Is pretty well covered with iron stains. In ths Tlntic Central ground a depth of 1000 feet ahould be sufficient to get Into the ore and the management now Intesds to thoroughly prospect that level. May Day's Zinc. Th May Day mine closed ths month of April with a total of fourteen carloads of ore to Its credit, the output for that period being half sine snd half lead, and under the preaent ecunomlcal manner of operating the property thla tonnage re-suited re-suited In a fairly good profit. Tha cur-tallment cur-tallment of sine shipment mads It necessary neces-sary for the management to lighten up the pay mil and consequently the May Day's moot hi expense sccount Is smaller than It has been in some little time. The sine ore aent out laat month from this mine hrought about $M0 per car. of fifty tnns. which would he equivalent tn about til per tun after the payment of railroad and smelter chargex The lad deposit at the May Day I looking as well as ever and a force of four men t sufficient to handle the regular reg-ular tonnagt- f this ore. |
