Hark hospital, at Central Park West and One Hundredth street; the De Milt dispensary, at 245 Kast Twenty-third street, and the Clinic for Functional Reeducation, fi Livingston place, are the hospitals which have been merged Into Reconstruction hospital, which is already functioning in the buildings of the first nsmed Institution. The property prop-erty and equipment of all three of the old institutions ha've been turned over to the new hospital. The medical staff of the new hospital Includes some of the foremost physicians physi-cians and surgeons in the world, among them Dr. Joseph A. Blake, who was In charge of American Red Cross hospital hos-pital 2 In I'aris; Dr. John A. Hart-well, Hart-well, Dr. Victor O. Heiser, Dr. Irving 8. Haynes, Dr. Charlton Wallace, Dr. Charles L- Dana, Dr. Henry Sage , Dunning, Dr. John D. Kernan and Dr. j Herbert O. Reese. It is headed bv Dr. W. Oilman Thompson, who is an authority au-thority on occupational disease, as well I as many ether medical subjects. 1 The extension of the methods developed devel-oped In France to the treatment of I those "wounded or otherwise disabled I In Industry" has been advocated since j demobilisation by many of the physicians physi-cians who held prominent posts in the war medical work. Dr. Blake said that the application of these methods would save at least SO per cent of the working capacity of those who sustained sus-tained bone fractures. The Improved treatments have been tried on a small scale In number of hospitals, both in New York City and elsewhere. "While no new discoveries In surgery sur-gery resulted from our experiences during the war," a member of the Reconstruction Re-construction hospital staff explained yesterday, "many advances were made in tne early care of injuries, bo in as to muscles and broken bones. It was discovered that men could be restored to working condition much earlier than bad heretofore been done. "It was found also if because of complications, there was danger that the men could not be restored to a condition in which they could resume their work, a good deal could be done by attention to the reeducation of the Individual in tha intelligent use of the injured parts.' The board of Reconstruction hospital Includes many men prominent in Industrial In-dustrial organisations. They believe that the methods suggested will diminish di-minish industrial casualties.
