The action was brought by habeas corpus proceedings in which Mr. and Mrs. John A. kurts alleged that their baby daughter wan taken from Mrs. Kurts a few hours after birth and was retained illegally by Mr. and Mrs. Otto W. Cliritonsen. Through the entire week the two families have sat in Judgf, Hanson's ! courtroom linteninir to the tfHtfmonyl lntrudufvxl - to- - determine-- to which J family the little girl properly belongs.! Mr. and Mrs. I'hrintennen adopted the baby on the ground that she had j been deserted and abandoned by her mother. They contended that the child knew them only as father and mother and that she should not be taken from them. Mr. and Mrs. Kurts were equally Insistent that the girl Is their own, and that she was never given up by them. Strong emotions marked the trial from the time that Mrs. Kurtx as the first witness began to testify until the Mrs. Kurts subbed continuously in the courtroom except w hen she was on the witness stand, and Mrs. Chrlstensen broke down completely and was forced to leave the stand.
