Show N. Y. Visitor Talks to Club Many educators endanger the happiness of children by giving them too much education rather than a chance to become a member mem-ber of society. Dr. Frederick L. Red-efer, Red-efer, New York City, executive secretary sec-retary of the Progressive Education Educa-tion association, told members or the Exchange club Friday noon at a luncheon meeting at the Hotel Utah. Dr. Redrfer, who Is here In connection con-nection with the Utah Education association annual meeting, told of findlaga of a half million dollar research program which bad been carried on by the Progressive Education Ed-ucation association In recent years to determine the needs of youth In society. "Young people have need to be wanted by adult society and to participate par-ticipate in the planning of their schools." Dr. Redefer said. "In other words, they need understanding understand-ing in aaaociationa with other students stu-dents and with adults." Pointing out that many young people show lack of interest in any religion. Dr. Redefer explained that students should have an ethical relationship with modern religion by which they can live and not merely learn principles. .Sterling W. Sill, vice president, was in charge of the meeting. |
