Show French Compel Retreat On 37-MuV Front- By United Press. PARIS. Oct. 1 12. Continuing their progress on the whole Champagne front, French troop this morning entered en-tered the Important town of.Vouslere on the western edge of th Argonne forest, the war office announced? (Last night's communique reported them within a mile and three-quarters of Vouslers.) The French now hold th general line of the Retourne river and the ' road from Pauvres (four miles north of Maojiault) to Vouslers. "This morning French troops entered en-tered Vouxlera," the communique said. "We continue our progress on the whole Champagne front. We hold the general line of the Retourne and j the road from Pauvres to Vouslers. I "The enemy has been forced to! abandon hie positions on a front of sixty kilometers ( more than thirty-seven thirty-seven miles) which h had defended ' for several daya past, north of the Huippe and the Ames. CAVALRY IN PURSUIT. ' "Our cavalry Is treading on the1 heela of the enemy rear guards, preceding pre-ceding the Infantry, which has advanced ad-vanced at certain points to the depth of ten kilometer (more than aix miles). Remy. Further east we occupied the villages of Auasonce, La Neuvllle, Cauroy, Machault. Contreuve, Ht. Morel and Ravlgny-sur-Alsne, and rearmed the approaches of Rlgnlcourt.
