French Compel Retreat On 37-MuV Front- By United Press. PARIS. Oct. 1 12. Continuing their progress on the whole Champagne front, French troop this morning entered en-tered the Important town of.Vouslere on the western edge of th Argonne forest, the war office announced? (Last night's communique reported them within a mile and three-quarters of Vouslers.) The French now hold th general line of the Retourne river and the ' road from Pauvres (four miles north of Maojiault) to Vouslers. "This morning French troops entered en-tered Vouxlera," the communique said. "We continue our progress on the whole Champagne front. We hold the general line of the Retourne and j the road from Pauvres to Vouslers. I "The enemy has been forced to! abandon hie positions on a front of sixty kilometers ( more than thirty-seven thirty-seven miles) which h had defended ' for several daya past, north of the Huippe and the Ames.
