Jnj Jrvf itm. Riiitf 'in Jvt munulnl Timu ht ' At Request of U. S. Fuel Administration SKIP-STOPS FOR SALT LAKE Will Go Into Effect Monday, Oct. 14 Soma time) af o the United Sutea Fuel Administration issued a request for all street car companies in cities over 25,000 to cut down the number of atopa on their lines aa much as possible, in order to save fuel. When tha request was presented to tha Utah Light A Traction company, J throuf h W. W. Armstrong, Fuel Administrator for Utah, tha company called 1 attention to' tha fact that sine tha power used her is hydro-electric, there "X would be no saving of fuel by adopting tha measure. Mr. Armstrong presented the matter in this light to the National Fuel Administration. Admin-istration. The reply came back that, even though no fuel were saved, it had been demonstrated that the skip -stop service saves an appreciable amount of time for the' car riders and man-power for the company, and for this ' reason, and also for the sake of uniformity, the measure should be adopted in Salt Lake. And so, at this request of the National Fuel Administration, tha Utah Light etc Traction company, with the acquiescence of the Public Utilities Commission Commis-sion and tha City Commission, will put the skip-stop service into effect Monday, October 14. All mid-block stops will be discontinued, with the following exceptions! Holy Cross Hospital, Sarah Daft Home, East Side High School, City and County Building, Orpheum Theatre and Tabernacle. Tha number of stops south of Ninth South will be reduced to make them about the distance of a city block apart. Watch tha "CARS STOP HERE" signs. These are now being taken down on all lines and changed to new locations. Cars will stop only where indicated by the signs reading "Cars Stop Here."
