Provo won, 36-28, at Pleasant Grove recently, and led all the way Tuesday, quarter scores being 7-3, 15-10 and 24-16 as Ray Nash paced with nine points. North Cache was hard pressed by Bear River, which has yet to win this cage season, but eked out a 25-19 victory after trailing, 12-14, at fcalftlmaw-U was too eighth win in 10 starts for the Cache boys, who now have games remaining at South Cache and at Weber. North Cache gained Its first athletic ath-letic title as Region One football winner and state runnerup last fall. Ogden moved Into a second place tie with the Idle South Cache team, a half game behind North Cache, by beating Weber, 50-23. The victors vic-tors Jumped away to a 26-5 margin in the first period and were never In danger. South Cache plays at Ogden February 23. Mantl remained Just behind Ephralm In the Sanpete race by taking Its sixth win In seven starts, 38-33, over last-place Moroni, Mo-roni, after being tied 28-all as the final stanza opened. Ephralm plays at Wasatch Academy In Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant Wednesday, and will go to Mantl March 1 for the game which may decide the title. Ephralm won at home, 27-24, over Mantl a month ago. American Fork, fourth-placer of the Alpine group, was forced Into an extra period before defeating Brigham Young, 43-42, In the most hard fought Tuesday game. The Forkers led, 12-9, In the first canto and 36-30 in the third, but the count was knotted 20-sll at half-time half-time and 41-all as the fourth quarter quar-ter ended. A field goal by Robinson Robin-son decided the tussle. |
