Show Nordic Committee Sends Cash To Finn Minister to Buy Arms Airing disagreement with the Finnish Relief Fund, Inc., C H. Carlquist, chairman of the Nordic committee, Wednesday sent $629.78 direct to Hjalmar Procope, the Finnish. minister at Washington, D. C, instructing him to use the money to buy guns . and ammunition or anything else the Finnish army needs. Mr. Carlquist Informed Burton W. Musser, central Utah chairman of the Finnish fund, of his action by letter, saying that if the "Finnish "Fin-nish government did not get support sup-port in a way which would enable it to continue fighting there would be no one left to feed in Finland." M the same time. Lawrence A. Johnson, treasurer of the Nordic committee, said: "The Finns have been getting plenty of sympathy. What they need is more munitions and planes." ' Mr. Carlqulst's letter revealed a difference between the two organizations or-ganizations on the handling of funds. Mr. Musser, according to Mr. Carlquist, had desired that money raised by the Nordic committee com-mittee be added to other funds raised by the Finnish Relief Fund, Inc. The Nordic committee, Mr. Carlquist Carl-quist said, was functioning before the relief fund was organized and will continue to raise funds after the letter organization has completed com-pleted its work. Mr. Musser has announced the contribution drive of his organization organiza-tion probably will be discontinued at the end of February. |
