Show Methodists Hear Need Of Family Home Life MedJuma of public expression, snirh as snoviet, newspapers and current literature, "should help hew us the brighter, normal and more sane side of family life" rather than the sensational and abnormal. Dr. M. Lynn Bennion, superintendent of Salt Lake City schools, Tuesday told persons attending at-tending a two-day Methodist mission mis-sion seminar. Speaking at the First Methodist church. 202 E. 2nd South, Dr. Bennion Ben-nion declared: . "We need to play up the happy marriage as idea, rather than the Unhappy marriage aa Inevitable." He said the mediums of public expression could reflect such ideas aa the fact that the greatest career ca-reer possible to anyone la a sue-resaful sue-resaful msrriage and home; that the highest happlneaa on earth ran be foimd only in successful home life and that married love can continue to grow with the years. He pointed out that an unhappy home life during a child's early, formative years will carry over and affect him the rest of his life. Earlier in the day Dr. Edward D. Staples, head of the- young adult department, national board of education, Methodist church, told .the seminar that pastors "should take the responsibility of guiding parents in relations with their children." He adviaed them, while making their home visits, to see that children are included as persons so they won't get the idea the pastor is visiting only the parents. Other Tuesday speakers were Rev. Charlea R. Rowe, pastor, First Methodist church; Rev. Edgar Ed-gar H. Hoffman, pastor, Liberty Park church; Rev, JX A. Bird, pastor, Ccntennary Methodist church. |
