Show PRISON REMOVAL BENEFITS CITED Reiteration of his periodic request that tha Utah stats prison be removed re-moved to a new site topped a series of recommendations for Improved state penal policy In tha biennial report of Warden R. E. Davis to Governor Henry H. Blood Friday. Ths warden's report reached the eapitol in tha wake of tha governor's opening message to ths Utah legislature legis-lature on Tuesday, In which ths latter lat-ter called attention to steps already taken toward construction of a new prison on a sits that will permit per-mit employment of Its Inmates and segregation of first offenders from hardened criminals. Removal of tha prison, tha warden's war-den's report stated, would "reduce crime, cut expenses, reform and rehabilitate inmates and materially benefit society as welL" Ths warden backed up another proposal of tha chief executive that tha legislature establish aa improved im-proved parole and probation system administered by trained men. Vocational training and other educational edu-cational opportunities for prisoners also were advocated in the report |
