Show WASHINGTON PNGMAN ' HAS SERIOUS PROBLEM How to Provide for the Hanging of One-Legged Manc Puzzles Him Sorely. WASHINGTON, Jan. 27. A novel question perplexes the local Jail officials. How they shall provide for the hanging of a one-legged negro is the problem to which they are' giving much thought. John Sinclair, colored. Is under sentence of death. He has only one leg. If they pinion his arms he can't walk. If they don't He Is likely to create a scene. ' Sinclair has flouted all attempts to get his mini turned towr.rd religion so he is not at all lamblike. The suggestion that has met with most favor is that he be strapped to a board and carried to the place of execution. Placing him on a chair will not do, as it will be impossible to get enough men around the chair to carry It and at the same time restrain ttye prisoner. Cripples have been carried to $he scaffold on chairs, but all wbo have been so treated have been such as had resigned themselves and were willing to go without being forced. ' |
