Jan. 11 The commitrte on legislation of the Grand Army of the Republic has been in session. at the Eb bitt house here since Thursday. It considered con-sidered mainly pending legislation for the aid of veterans in seeking appointments to the public service, A tub-nnrral(te was appointed, consisting of Chairman Joseph W, Kay, New.. York, and George H. Patrick, Alabama, and they visited the President and Postmaster-General Friday in the Interest of legislation to prefer those who served the Union In the arrry and navy in the Civil war in appointments, retentions or promotions In the public eervlce over other persons. The committee have returned home satisfied satis-fied with the results of it efforts. |
