Show STEGNER LOSES SUIT AGAINST SHORT LINE Judge Marshall took the case' of Lon V. 8tegner vs. the Oregon Short Line from the Jury Saturday morning, and gave a verdict for the defendant on the grounds of contributory negligence. . Stegner was suing the road for injuries received while firing in 1903. On the night of October 10. 19U3. the plaintiff leaned from the gangway of his engine to inspect the drafts and his head struck the side of a bridge near Pegram. Ida., and he was knocked from the engine, falling a distance dis-tance of twenty feet, fracturing his skull and suffering severe internal injuries. Judge Marshall ruled that as Stegner knew of the existence of the bridge he was at fault. |
