" Carisa was the one stock on the board that sold up, the price going from 10 to lOic during the sale of 2700 shares. Daly-Judge got $9.90 for 600 shares, and Daly TVest went off another notch, selling 23 shares for $45.40. SMELTERS TO BE CLOSED DOWN After an 'unsuccessful-experiment With automatic furnace feeders, during. which time the United States company's big smelter has been tied up for thirteen days or more, the management of the company ' baa decided to close the plant down while the automatic devices are removed. The old system of hsd feeding will again be adopted, as under this system the smelter did perfect work for several months after it went into commission, last winter. While the plant is closed shipments from the Centennial Eureka and the U. S. company's Bingham properties will be suspended. - Manager Holden says the delay de-lay occasioned by the change will not be longer than five or six days. ANOTHER WABASH ASSESSMENT The Wabash ' directors levied another assessment of 6 cents yesterday afternoon after-noon which makes the third assessment within six months. The levy., becomes delinquent June 27th. The amount realized real-ized from this assessment, $16,000, may carry the company through until fall. LARGE BODIES OF IRON OPENED AT IF. h "DVTT.T.T!. LEADVILLE, May 22.-rIt was made public today that recent development work by George F. Campion In the Caribou Cari-bou mine, located in the city limits, has opened up one-of the- largest - Iron ore bodies ever found in the camp. The iron body has been followed down for 130 feet and upraised on for 50 feet, and has been followed in for. 250 feet. The Jron will net $5 a ton. On top of this iron is a lead carbonate ore three feet in thickness that shows a width of 125 feet end 250 feet in length that will average $40 net to the ton. There is ore enough In sight t& ship 200 tons a day, the present tonnage of the property, for two years without doing any development work, but the latter will soon be under way, as diamond drill ' explorations show the extent of the ore ' into the depths below. The company is a close corporation, and recent develop-i develop-i ments are considered the most Important for the downtown section in years. INTO CENTURY'S RESERVE. The Century management yesterday added $2200 to Its reserve fund, realized from the sale of a consignment 'of fine concentrates.
