I The G. A. R. veterans' concluded their twenty-first annual State encampment last night with . a successful musical and dramatic entertainment at the Odd : Fellows' hall. Park City was chosen as the me6ting place of the encampment next year. Late in the afternon the annuai election of officers Mas held, resulting as follows: . Frank II. Clark. The committee on finance lo making Its report noted that the past yean was the first time in years that the department de-partment has been free from debt, and1 with a surplus in the treasury. , These resolutions were adopted; Resolved, That the thanks of the department de-partment be, and are hereby, tendered to the retiring officers who have so faithfully faith-fully served ns durlnn the past year. Resolved, That all the comrades in this department are strongly urged to procure uniforms to be worn at port meetings and all paradea of the Grand army. They can be procured very cheaply, are serviceable, and will add very much to our soldierly and proper appearance on public ' occasions. occa-sions. This is peculiarly appropriate at the present time, as within a few days the Grand army will take a prominent part In the parade in honor of the President Presi-dent of the United States, aVid it is desirable de-sirable that we present the best possible appearance. The attention of post commander is strongly invited to this matter. Resolved, That the thanks of this de-pa de-pa rment and of all the comrades are extended, ex-tended, to all the patriotic women in the Relief corps and circles for the noble work they have done and are doing in the Interest of the old soldiers,, their widows wid-ows and orphans, and in doing honor to the veterans as they are one by. one mustered mus-tered out and laid in their last resting place; and we earnestly hone and beljeve that they will not weary in well doing, 1 but continue in their good and noble work. Restlved, That we deplore the fact that there are several old soldiers burled in the potter's field in Mount Olivet and City cemeteries in Salt Lake Citj, and we urge the posts in 8alt Lake City to investigate this matter and endeavor to secure the removal of the remains of these veterans , to more appropriate positions. Resolved. That the department of Utah, G. A. R.. located in the beautiful valley of Salt Lake in the heart of the Rocky mountains, sends its greeting to the national na-tional encampment at its meeting in August Au-gust at the Queen City by the Golden Gate, and wishes it a harmonious session ses-sion and a happy reunion of the old veterans vete-rans of the war of the rtbelllon. Resolved, That we again invite the attention at-tention of all the comrades of the G. A? R. throughout the Union to the many uniq'-e charms, attractions, beauties and delights of our city and State our grand mountains, beautiful canyons, great salt sa wonderful mines, mammoth tabernacles, taberna-cles, matchless organ, hot springs, glorious glo-rious climate and our patriotic and hospitable hos-pitable people.
