Show Vim DESCEND ANiS: (ill ' UNITE TO HONOR MEMORY OF THIS PIONEER WOMAN Mrs. Elisabeth Flxton, who came into Utah in 1348, died at' Taylorsville Sunday Sun-day night at the advanced age of 88 years. . . Mrs. Plxton endured many hardships in the early days. She crossed the plains afoot, driving an ox-cart the entire en-tire distance and arriving here In '1848. Her husband was one of the volunteers volun-teers in the Mormon battalion, raised by order of President Brlgham Young, for the United States army, then engaged in the Mexican war. Mrs. Plxton was prominent in the work of the Mormon church. She is survived by 115 descendents. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom are living. There are forty-five forty-five grandchildren, sixty-three greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren. The arrangements for the funeral, which will probably occur at Farming-ton, Farming-ton, have not yet been made. |
