Show SHORTAGE OF $100,000 Warrant Out for H. I i Hays, Bank Cashier at Riverside, CaL : RIVERSIDE, Cel., March 22. A warrant war-rant charging embezzlement of an amount said to aggregate over $100,000 from the Orange Growers' National bank of Riverside, has been Issued for the arrest of H. T. Hays, former cashier cash-ier of the bank and one of the most influential in-fluential men in the social and political life of this county. The warrant was sworn to last night by directors of the Institution, but up to 10 o'clock this morning Hays had not been apprehended. apprehend-ed. Hays was formerly the purchasing agent of the Salt Lake railroad at this place but lost his official connection with the road when the sensational exposures of several months ago were made when it was shown that the -road had been swindled out of many thousands of dollars dol-lars in land purchases in this county. At the same time Hays resigned his position po-sition as cashier of the Orange Growers' National bank. Subsequent examinations examina-tions by a bank examiner revealed many shortages, some of which have been made good by Mr. Hays. ..... |
