Show FIFTY HOUSES ARE DESTROYED BY FLOOD EL PASO, Tex., Aug. 23. The heaviest heav-iest flood of water that Silver City, N. M., has -ever known swept through the town Sunday night after a severe cloudburst cloud-burst In the mountains above. No loss of life has yet been reported, but It Is believed at least fifty homes were washed away. As the flood came early In the evening It Is thought that every one was warned in time to escape. The Santa" Fe railroad is washed out in many places and seven bridges between Silver Cltjr and Whitewater are out. An arroyo twenty feet deep and a hundred feet wide runs through Silver City and this was overflowed. Many stores suffered suf-fered considerable damage. " , |
