Show CITY'S DEATH RATE WAS LOW IM 1904 Health Commissioner C. F. Wilcox has filed his report for 1904 with Mayor Monis. The low death rate of 11.84 per 1000 Is reported. The city's sanitary conditions are Improving, he says. The cost of running the department was 13283.49 more than In 1903. He recommends rec-ommends the appointment of an assistant assist-ant at a salary of $100 a month. . The total cost of operating the department de-partment was S30.979.82, divided as follows: fol-lows: Isolation hospital, $4050.11; crematory, cre-matory, $3305.90; health department, .'3,632.81. The report states that much of the success of the department is due to the courtesy, diligence and1 efficiency of Chief Clerk Max R. Brothers. Contagious diseases have decreased 29 per cent as compared with 1903. |
