Show BANDIT IS AT LARGE Officers Arc Unable to Find Wclls-Fargo Express Ex-press Rebber. LOS ANGELAS, Dec. 6. Notwithstanding Notwith-standing that scores of deputy sheriffs and police officers are patrolling the Santa Fe railroad, nearly all the way from Daggett to Needles and the surrounding sur-rounding country is being searched to the remotest corner for some trace of the bandit who yesterday looted the Wells-Fargo express car at Daggett, Cal., after shooting and perhaps fatally fa-tally wounding Express Messenger Evan Roberts, the man is still at large. The Wells-Fargo Express company has offered a reward of $1000 for the capture of the bandit. This offer has been supplemented by one for a similar simi-lar amount from the Santa Fe Railway company and $300 from the State. Messenger Roberts Is still alive and the physicians say that he stands about one chance In a hundred of recovering. He is yet considered too weak to attempt at-tempt to make any identification of the man who shot him. Assistant Superintendent Pridham of Wells-Fargo said this morning that the amount of money taken Is about $300. Several checks and drafts, including one for $5000, were also taken, but payment pay-ment on thees has been stopped. |
