Show BACK FROM BIG RACE Palmer and Agiaz Little the .Worse From the Six-Day Grind. . - 'Palmer and Agrax, 'the Australian-Mexican Australian-Mexican team In the six-day race, have returned to this city. Both of the boys are looking well and with the exception of a little stiffness and a few sore spots show none the worse for the fierce grind. v Both boys say that the race was a fierce one but both are glad that they took part. They were paid a guarantee besides the expenses of the trip and feel that It was well worth their while to compete. Palmer says that he thinks that Stol and Vanderstuyft gained their lap unfairly, un-fairly, although he does not think that favoritism was shown. There were so many riders on the track that it was very easy for the scorers to make a mistake. mis-take. Palmer also says that Samuel-son Samuel-son and Williams deserve great qredit. Sam caught a bad cold early in the race and could scarcely breathe a good part of the time. Palmer, who had the next training quarters, says that Sam did not have any sleep to speak of as his cough was so bad he could not rest.' Palmer left Saturday for Australia, where he will ride during the winter. He will return here next summer, however. how-ever. Williams writes to this city that he and Samuelson got the worst of It from the officials. ' He claims that he and Samuelson gained two laps on the field and that they were not allowed. This is hardly likely, as the New Tork papers pa-pers do not mention it In any. way. Hopper, who was let down by his partner, Caldwell, will race in Buffalo and later in a six-day race to be held In Chicago. |
