Show POLICE ARE BLOCKED Balky Horse Ties Up the Patrol Wasotf for three Hours. i A balky horse on the patrol wagon caused a great deal of trouble to Patrol Driver Armstrong between the hours of 1 o'clock and 4:30 o'clock this morning. At 1 o'clock a call was sent to the police po-lice station for a patrol wagon,' and a dozen policemen to go to 860 West Second Sec-ond North street, where a burglar waa said to be ransacking the house. All went well until one-half of the distance had been covered, when one of the horses decided to go no further. He balked. No amount of persuasion could Induce him to move an Inch. Becoming weary of standing, he lay down In the mud. The policemen could not make him budge an inch, and they left, continuing their Journey afoot. Arriving at the house, they found that the burglary alar mwas a false one, and then returned to .the station. Patrol Driver Armstrong returned to the station at 4:30 o'clock this morning, with the balky horse tied to the rear end of the patrol wagon. He had been compelled to arouse the neighborhood and borrow another horse to get the wagon back to the station. |
