Show Enterprises Tht Mean Much to Utah. Erery progressive Utabn mast read ' with immense im-mense satisfaction the bits of news, here and there, concerning the new railrosd and other enterprises now in hand by our own and allied capitalists. The development of Utah means the bettering of the financial and social condition of ever j man, woman and child in the State. The new railroads will make Salt Lake a leading stopping point for the great mass of transcontinental travelers. No business busi-ness man is in doubt as to what that will mean for the city's growth and prosperity. Everything contributing con-tributing to this much-desired consummation deserves de-serves hearty encouragement, and anything contributing con-tributing to its retarding merits opposition. Thus far the Utah Legiskjture has been wise in its lawmaking law-making and law-mending. The majority of the solons have been broad-minded and appreciative of the needs of our railroads and other corporations and their usefulness in upbuilding the State. It is to be hoped no ill-considered measure will jog along perfunctorily and in the3e last days slip into the form of a law contrary to the purpose of progressive legislators. Personal interests, or pet hobbies, have no-legitimate place in the work of a Legislature chosen to serve the interests of the whole State as one of the great common wealths of the Union. |
