The absent members of the band escaped to neighboring villages, but they were j bunted down and subjected to the same fate. Another case of lynching is reported from Stavropol, where four ;men were arrested for horse stealing. After the local Chief of Police had examined the accused, he stepped into the market place and Invited the assembled peasants to take the law into their own hands. Three of the natives were killed on the spot and the fourth had to be taken to a hospital. The Chief of Police was arrested. |
