Show HEALTH IN SALT1AKE Record of Conditions of the Past Ten Years Is Prepared. Some Interesting statistics concerning mortality and disease conditions In Salt Lake City, has been prepared by Horace H. Smith, clerk of the Board of Health. The record covers the last ten years and reflects very great credit on the Board of Health In what It has accomplished accom-plished in the way of - cutting down the mortality in germ diseases. dis-eases. Here are some, of . the figures taken . from the tables: In 1891, 370 cases, 165 deaths; 1892. 20S cases, 76 deaths; 1893. 346 cases. 81 deaths; 1894. 258 cases, 49 deaths; 1895, 307 cases, 66 deaths; 1896 389 cases, 45 deaths; 1897, 365 cases. 42 deaths; 1898, 397 cases, 66 deaths; 1899, 650 cases, 40 deaths; 1900, 951 cases. 34 deaths; 1901. 1662 cases, 96 deaths; 1902, 1573 cases, 109 deaths. Of the communicable diseases there were in the ten years 4777 cases of tuberculosis, 150 of scarlet fever, 323T of- diphtheria, 304 of typhoid,- 30 of measles and 47 of whooping cough; altogether al-together only 1331 cases of communicable communi-cable diseases. The births in this period amounted to 6894 males and 6428 females. Of the various classes of diseases there were 222 cases of generic disease, 91 of the nervous system, 69 circulatory, 115 respiratory, 92 digestive, 61 genlto-urlnary, 7 malformations, 61 diseases of early infancy, 63 old age, 64 external causes and 19 ill defined. |
