Mr. Belts was- sent as a delegate by the Oregon Wool-Growers' association to the convention of the National Dive-' Dive-' Stock-Growers association that has recently re-cently been in session at Kansas City. "The subject of salt was discussed at length by the stock-growers assembled at Kansas City," declared Mr. Belts at the Windsor, "and I was requested to .visit this city and see the companies , manufacturing salt here and find out what were the best terms that could be made with them for the delivery. of salt " In large quantities. "The prices asked by Salt Lake manufacturers man-ufacturers are all right, but I find the railroads will not carry Utah salt into territory in which other salt companies operate at a rate that will permit the Utah, manufacturers to compete for the trade. "This is too bad. for their salt Is good and could it be shipped over the country at a reasonable rate the refining refin-ing of salt would soon become a great Industry in this State." |
