Show PROMINENT MEN IN DUEL TOTHE DEATH Edmund Rouse Kills Frank HaHack for an Alleged Insult to His Wife. IDAHO SPRINGS, April 16.-In a duel with a Winchester and a revolver, fought because of an alleged insult offered of-fered to his wife. Edmund Row Be, head bookkeeper for the Roberts Mercantile company, killed Frank Hallack. superintendent superin-tendent of the Sky Bock mine, at 6:30 o'clock last nlgnt, and was himself wounded. It is said that Rouse learned from his wife tnat Hallack had made improper advances to her during his absence. They had some words, when Hallack Hal-lack rushed upstairs In his home and came down with a Winchester repeating rifle. Rowse was armed with a .38 caliber revolver. re-volver. After exchanging some further words they commenced shooting. Two of the shots fired by Rowse took effect in Hallack. who lived twenty minutes. The shot fired by Hallack struck the revolver hld by Rowse and tore away a portion of his right hand. Both men have families fam-ilies living here. |
