Show SALT LAKE "HELLO" GIRLS GO TO BUTTE General Manager D. S. Murray of the Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone company com-pany left for Butte this morning, taking: tak-ing: with him eleven "hello" girls from the local exchange, who will take the places of as many dissatisfied Butte operators. ' Affairs in the Butte exchange have not been entirely harmonious for some time. The operators there, nineteen In number, organized a union a few weeks ago and demanded concessions which were not in accord with the company's policy. In the event of failure to secure se-cure their demands the girls threatened to strike. The Importation .of Salt Lake operators opera-tors Into Butte is regarded as rendering render-ing it certain that the telephone company com-pany is not inclined to grant the demands de-mands made by the new union. The wages of the telephone girls In Butte are. It Is said, about 50 per cent higher than In Salt Lake. |
